three hurdles
Today in news re: day-dreaming Democrats – Brendan Kelly announced that he is running against Mike Bost today.
Other than the fact that IL-12 voters are very happy with their current representation – there’s a couple of hurdles Kelly is going to have try and overcome.
First, if he wants to get any support from national Democrats, he’s going to have to get in line with Nancy Pelosi. That’s worked out incredibly well for Democrats this year.
Second, I’m not a mind-reader, but I’d imagine the rural, blue-collar voters in the District wouldn’t be thrilled about their taxes being raised, which Kelly supports.
Third, Kelly says that “you have to listen to people,” yet he supports the status quo of Obamacare even though premiums in Illinois went up 108% in the last 4 years. Maybe he supports single-payer?
If listening is such a big priority – he might want to get a little better at it.
