NRCC Chairman Steve Stivers: I’m Hopeful the Senate Will Join The House to Take Action on Tax Reform
WASHINGTON – Today National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Stivers joined Hugh Hewitt to discuss what the House has accomplished and the importance of passing tax reform.
HUGH HEWITT: Tell me about the NRCC. Are you raising any money? Because there is a headwind blowing against Republicans, because nothing is happening in the Senate that isn’t confirmation.
NRCC CHAIRMAN STEVE STIVERS: There is a headwind. We’ve past 290 bills in the House that are sitting in the Senate with no action, health care bill being one of them. But I am hopeful that the Senate will be able to get tax reform done. We’re going to unveil our tax reform package in a couple days. It’s important to get our economy moving and put more money in the pockets of hard-working Americans, who 50% of them are living paycheck to paycheck, Hugh. And they need more money and we need to help them out. Government is taking too much and if we can grow our economy, we can accomplish a lot more for those individuals and their families.
