can I get an encore?

Just weeks after voting to throw the federal government into a shutdown and end the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Democrats have done it again.
Tonight, Ami Bera and Scott Peters voted with Nancy Pelosi to shut down the federal government, which would result in:
- Furloughing 850,000 federal workers
- Stopping protections for community health clinics against closures
- Stopping disaster assistance for families and small businesses affected by last year’s hurricanes
- Stopping funding for the military, preventing active duty, National Guard, and reserve soldiers from being paid
- Stopping a 2.4% pay raise for our troops
- Stopping funding programs to help our nation’s veterans
These two sure are singing a different tune about shutdown brinksmanship compared to just a few years ago:
- Bera: “American citizens are fed up with these shenanigans. They want us to do our job.”
- Peters: “It’s just not fair to impose this kind of uncertainty and fear on families and small businesses when it’s just a matter of Congress getting to work like we were hired to do.”
What changed, guys?
