NRCC Statement On Dems Distancing Themselves From Pelosi
In light of Democrats’ newest stunt to win the majority—attempting to distance themselves from Nancy Pelosi—the NRCC calls on all Democrats refusing to support her as leader to reject all campaign cash spent on their behalf by the DCCC or House Majority PAC.
“Let’s see Democrats put their money where their mouth is,” said NRCC Communications Director Matt Gorman.
“If they’re genuinely opposed to Nancy Pelosi—and want to prove this isn’t a stunt—they must simultaneously refuse all money spent on their behalf by the DCCC or House Majority PAC.”
Minority Leader Pelosi Single-Handedly Plucked The DCCC Chair From Obscurity To Lead The Organization:
The Choice Of DCCC Chair “Is Pelosi’s Alone” To Make. “In a shock to her caucus, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi selected Rep. Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for the 2016 cycle. The choice is Pelosi’s alone, but it was a shock to most Democrats on Capitol Hill.” (“Ben Ray Lujan Is Pelosi’s Surprise Pick To Chair DCCC,” Minneapolis Star Tribune, 11/17/14)
Pelosi Raised Almost $50 Million For House Democrats In 2017 Alone, With Over $47 Million Going To The DCCC:
In 2017 Pelosi Raised $49.5 Million For House Democrats And Held “204 Fundraising Events In 43 Cities.” “House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) brought in nearly $50 million during 2017 for House Democrats, Politico reported early Monday. Pelosi raised $49.5 million last year and had 204 fundraising events in 43 cities, according to the news outlet.” (Rebecca Savransky, “Pelosi Raises Nearly $50 Million During 2017 For House Dem,” The Hill, 2/12/18)
“Politico Added That $47.6 Million Went Directly To The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).” (Rebecca Savransky, “Pelosi Raises Nearly $50 Million During 2017 For House Dem,” The Hill, 2/12/18)
Minority Leader Pelosi Has Extremely Close Ties To House Majority PAC And Is Viewed As A De Facto Arm Of Her Political Machine:
The Washington Post: “House Majority PAC (HMP) Has Close Ties To House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.” “House Majority PAC (HMP) has close ties to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and is the Democrats’ main counterweight to Republican super PAC spending led by the Congressional Leadership Fund, Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth Action and other independent GOP organs.” (Mike DeBonis, “Democratic Super PAC Makes Plans To Spend $43 Million On House Races,” The Washington Post, 3/8/18)
Washington Examiner: “The House Majority PAC Has Been An Instrument For Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi To Try To Increase The Democrats’ Numbers In The Lower Chamber Of Congress.” (Todd Shepherd, “Democrat PAC To Stop Taking Money From Company Accused Of Enabling Sex Trafficking,” Washington Examiner, 7/11/17)
Time Called House Majority PAC “The Nancy Pelosi-Backed Super PAC.” “The Nancy Pelosi-backed super PAC campaigning for House Democrats has thrown in the towel on the party’s chances to retake the House majority this year, telling donors in a email fundraising note that it needs their help for 2016. ‘I don’t think I will shock anyone by saying that it is an uphill climb to win a majority in the House this year,’ the email, titled “Long-term planning,’ from House Majority PAC states.” (Zeke J. Miller, “Super PAC Backed By Nancy Pelosi Concedes Likely Democratic Defeat In 2014,” Time, 10/21/14)
