the good old days

Scott Wallace is under increasing scrutiny after the Philadelphia Inquirer exposed him for a litany of residency issues.
In addition to claiming a homestead tax credit on his Maryland home and listing that address on numerous forms, Wallace hasn’t voted in the 1st District since 1978.
For context, here’s what was going on in 1978:
- The musical romantic comedy Grease hit the big screens, coming in second that summer at the box office behind Jaws 2
- Charlie Chaplin’s body was stolen and held for ransom. His widow refused to pay ransom demands of £400,000 because “Charlie would have thought it ridiculous.”
- You could get a gallon of gas for $0.62, a dozen eggs for $0.82, and a gallon of milk for $1.71
But I guess that last point wouldn’t matter much to someone worth between $127 and $309 million…
