NRCC MEMO: UTAH PRIMARY RESULTS

Democrats should be very concerned about losing this solid Republican district that President Trump won by seven points in 2016. The extremist policies exhibited by House Democrats the past two years will drive these traditional GOP voters to the ballot box with presidential-level turnout favoring Republicans in this red district. The only Democrat-held House seat in the state of Utah will once again turnover to Republican hands come January 2021.

UT-04: Ben McAdams (D) vs. Burgess Owens (R)

Washington, DC changed Ben McAdams. McAdams said he wasn’t going to be swayed by the liberal extremists in Washington, but that is exactly what’s happened. Ben betrayed his constituents with one of his very first votes as a member of Congress: voting to funnel up to $5 million of public funds to his own campaign war chest. Ben’s record is not the record of a representative who promised to be an independent voice for Utah, but rather of someone who is in Nancy Pelosi’s pocket. He is more concerned with voting to remove the President of the United States from office than he is with fulling his promises.

Burgess Owens is a retired NFL player and political outsider looking to unseat Ben McAdams, a career politician. Owens’ conservative credentials and steadfast principles will convince Utahns he’s the best choice to tackle the tough issues in Congress.
