NRCC Chairman Emmer slams Democrats’ silence on violence in Portland and Seattle

NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer yesterday joined The Lars Larson Show to discuss how Democrats’ anti-police platform has encouraged violence in Portland and Seattle.

Riots have become the new normal in Portland and Seattle, and local Democrats have reacted by embracing their party’s “defund the police” movement – cutting $16 million from Portland Police and slicing 20% from Seattle Police’s budget.

Despite the rise in violence, House Democrats Peter DeFazio, Kurt Schrader and Kim Schrier refuse to defend law enforcement and condemn the left-wing extremists destroying their cities.

NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer said, “You’ve got House Democrats, longtime elected officials Peter DeFazio, Kurt Schrader, Kim Schrier – none of them has condemned the ongoing violence in Portland and Seattle. Instead, they seem to be embracing their party’s anti-police platform… Why aren’t they trying to make sure we have peace and law and order in our streets?”
