NEW REPORT: California school closings continue to hurt students

May 11, 2021

A new report from McKinsey gives new details on how devastating shutting down schools has been for children.

American students from kindergarten to fifth grade have missed out on 20% of the reading and 33% of the math skills they would have learned in normal times.

This is a good reminder that California ranks last in school reopenings.

And despite the staggering statistics, teachers’ unions and California legislators are still threatening to continue distance learning next fall

Ami Bera, John Garamendi, Josh Harder, Jim Costa, Raul Ruiz, Katie Porter and Mike Levin are saying nothing because they’re in the pocket of teachers’ unions.

NRCC Comment: “California’s kids have to suffer because California Democrats are bought and paid for by the teachers’ unions.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Torunn Sinclair
