Today University of Iowa law professor and State Rep. Christina Bohannan announced she will run in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District and attempt to unseat U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks in the 2022 midterms.

The first-term Rep. has quickly made a name for herself as one of the most liberal members of Iowa’s House of Representatives. Still, many observers believe Bohannan will attempt to recast herself as a moderate in her run for Congress.

Bohannan deleted her website showing her radical positions on key issues before announcing her run for Congress, but unfortunately for her, the internet lives forever.

As Iowa legislators pushed to eliminate Critical Race Theory in Iowa schools, Bohannan laid out a lengthy defense for why teachers should be teaching our children they are born inherently racist, calling it “important work.”

Bohannan had a section of her website entirely dedicated to trashing Iowa’s voter ID requirement, calling it a “threat to democratic governance.” She also argued prohibiting those with felony convictions such as rape and murder from voting is a “threat to democratic governance.”

The health care section of Bohannan’s website was primarily dedicated to why Iowa taxpayers should be paying for gender reassignment surgeries. Bohannan wrote, “the State should allow Medicaid funding to pay for gender confirmation surgery for transgender individuals whose doctors have approved it.”

Finally, before it was deleted, Bohannan’s website touted the endorsement of Moms Demand Action, the leading gun-control group in America.

Bohannan may try to recast herself as a moderate during her run for Congress, but her website shows she may be just a bit too progressive for Iowa.
