About the Chairman
Chairman Richard Hudson
Richard Hudson has served in Congress since 2013, currently representing North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. In the 118th Congress, Hudson was elected by his colleagues to House Republican leadership as the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). This position places Hudson as the fifth-ranking Member in Republican leadership and the highest-ranking Republican Member of Congress from North Carolina in history.
As NRCC Chairman, Hudson is focused on growing the Republican majority in the House by recruiting candidates with compelling life stories, building strong campaigns, and raising the funds necessary to communicate effectively. In Congress, Hudson is a leader on defending the Second Amendment, supporting our military, and protecting life. As a Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Hudson is also working to cut federal spending, improve health care, and unleash American energy to lower costs and create jobs.
An avid outdoorsman, Richard grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from UNC Charlotte. He learned about hard work from his father, working construction jobs from an early age and waiting tables to help put himself through college. He learned about public service from his mother, a retired public school teacher. Throughout his professional career, Richard has drawn upon these values and lessons to get results for the people he serves.
Richard, his wife Renee, and their son live in Southern Pines.
