NJ Democrats fail New Jerseyans on SALT

According to reports, Joe Biden told Democrats that restoring the SALT deduction would not be included in the reconciliation package. 

Here’s what New Jersey Democrats had to say about the importance of the SALT deduction and their confidence in striking a deal…before they failed and fell flat on their face.

Tom Malinowski: “I’m calm because it’s going to be in there…So I think I’ve gone from ‘no SALT, no deal’ to reminding people, ‘no deal, no SALT.”

Josh Gottheimer: “When it comes to taxes that affect families, my line in the sand is SALT.”  (This is second time Gottheimer has been rolled by his own party!)

Mikie Sherrill: “I’ve been working to get rid of the SALT cap since my first day in office and I’m confident that we’ll be able to find common ground with the Biden administration.”

Andy Kim’s spokesperson: “[Rep. Kim] fully supports restoring the tax deduction for hard-working families across New Jersey.”

NRCC Comment: “New Jersey Democrats can’t accomplish anything for hardworking New Jerseyans.” –NRCC Spokeswoman Camille Gallo
