Fellow Dems attack Maloney over decision to protect himself
Sean Patrick Maloney only has one job as DCCC Chair: protecting vulnerable Democrats.
But his selfish choice to abandon his district and primary progressive Mondaire Jones is drawing criticism from fellow New York Democrats.
Kathleen Rice unleashed: “You cannot have the chair of the DCCC involved in a Democratic primary with an incumbent colleague and expect that person to remain objective about their No. 1 job, which is incumbent protection.”
And Ritchie Torres said: “New York 17 is primarily in Congressman Jones’ district. He should be regarded as the incumbent.”
House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries “even approached Maloney, telling him he needed to address the situation with Jones and [Jamaal] Bowman.”
NRCC Comment: “Sean Patrick Maloney’s actions reveal the only Democrat he’s concerned with protecting is himself.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Samantha Bullock
