As border crossings soar, Biden ends ‘Remain in Mexico’
August 9, 2022
The Biden Administration has officially ended the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy, which kept migrants in Mexico while they awaited asylum hearings in the United States.
Border officials have encountered more than 1.7 million migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border since Oct. 1, 2021 – the most recorded in a single fiscal year since 1960.
