Murder today, free tomorrow

August 31, 2022

A man accused of stabbing a stranger to death last week outside a subway station is back on the streets thanks to a judge who set monetary bail for the attacker instead of holding him behind bars.

A spokesman for the Office of Court Administration said: “Our criminal justice reform laws predispose against pretrial incarceration and give the arraigning judge narrow discretion, even on violent felony offences, while requiring them.”

In other words: New York’s bail reform laws are pro-criminal.

NRCC Comment: “Thanks to Democrats’ cashless bail catastrophe, a criminal can brutally murder someone one day and be freed to do it again the next.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Samantha Bullock
