NEW: Ethics complaint filed against Cartwright for appearing in donor’s TV ad

Watchdog group Functional Government Initiative (FGI) filed an ethics complaint against Matt Cartwright for appearing in a top campaign donor’s TV ad.

FGI writes Cartwright may have violated House ethics rules because he gave his “endorsement” of lawyer Jerry Parker and used House resources to “support” the firm by filming the ad in his congressional office.

Cartwright filmed the ad in his congressional office and appears to have advanced legislation for a non-constituent max-out donor to his campaign.

Pete McGinnis, spokesman for FGI, said, “Rep. Cartwright broke about every rule in the ethics book when he appeared in that commercial. This is ethics dysfunction at its finest and FGI intends to point it out.”
