NRCC Statement on Elissa Slotkin’s Senate Run
WASHINGTON – The NRCC released the following statement after Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) announced she would vacate her seat to run for the U.S. Senate seat in Michigan:
“The path to growing the Republican majority runs through seats like Elissa Slotkin’s. The NRCC is all hands on deck to add this seat to the Republican column in 2024. Democrats are scrambling for the exits in Hakeem Jeffries’ extreme House Caucus, and this latest development makes their climb out of the minority that much steeper.” -NRCC Communications Director Jack Pandol
Slotkin is the seventh House Democrat to forego running for reelection under Hakeem Jeffries’ leadership in the House minority. The others include:
Rep. Chuy Garcia (IL)
Rep. Katie Porter (CA)
Rep. Barbara Lee (CA)
Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ)
Rep. Adam Schiff (CA)
Rep. David Cicilline (RI)
