Gabe Vasquez Ignores Navajos
Despite outcry from the Navajo Nation, Gabe Vasquez today applauded the Biden Administration’s decision to block future oil and gas leasing around Chaco Canyon for the next two decades.
The Navajo Nation, local officials, and energy producers have opposed this since it was announced in 2021, warning it would have a “devastating impact” on tribal members.
However it’s not surprising Vasquez would ignore the Navajo Nation. His anti-American energy stances are extreme despite the 115,000+ jobs in the New Mexico oil and gas industry and that the state’s energy industry single-handedly gives billions to New Mexico’s public schools.
- Gabe Vasquez wants to “transition” away from American energy jobs.
- Vasquez voted against legislation to produce more clean, reliable, and affordable energy in America.
- Vasquez called to end oil and gas “immediately” and to “shut it all down.”
“Gabe Vasquez is making himself an enemy of New Mexico’s oil and gas industry. Ignoring the Navajo Nation to achieve something in this all-out fight against domestic energy will come back to bite him in 2024.” — NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar
