In 2019, Yadira Caraveo introduced a law to lower the penalty for fentanyl possession in Colorado. Following the passage of her law, fentanyl overdose deaths in Colorado doubled, and those numbers are rising.
Currently, 2024 is on track to break the record for the most fentanyl seizures:
It’s simple: Caraveo’s law is still hurting communities years later.
