ICYMI: Fraud Perez’s “Working-Class” Image Under Fire Again
In case you missed it, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez was exposed as a fraud, embellished her “blue-collar” story to mislead voters.
“Fraud Marie Gluesenkamp Perez has spent years peddling a fake blue-collar backstory to voters, trying to pass off a Portland hipster. Southwest Washington deserves better than a résumé-padding phony who thinks bamboo boutique work equals real labor.” – NRCC Spokesman Christian Martinez

Gluesenkamp Perez has told the story repeatedly and in multiple high-profile venues. She worked as a nanny, a barista, and in an “iPhone case factory,” she told Reed Magazine in 2023, paying for her elite private college education by the credit hour.
The Washington Free Beacon investigated the claim and found the “factory” was actually Grove, a small Portland artisanal boutique that hand-crafted bamboo iPhone cases. The operation was launched by two University of Oregon graduates out of a private home; at one point, one founder’s mother opened her living room as the staging area. By 2011, the company had roughly 10 employees, including friends and interns.
Her former roommate, Isaac Eger, identified the workplace on his podcast and was blunt about what he thinks Gluesenkamp Perez is doing.
“She’s definitely cosplaying as a poor person,” Eger said on the Jan. 29 episode of his podcast, COEXIST Inc. Eger further described the work as entirely manual.
“They made [the wooden cases] by hand,” he said on the podcast. “So not machinery.”

The congresswoman’s blue-collar image has attracted scrutiny before. Seattle Red has previously reported on how her personal story conflicted with property records showing loans from her father, and how she has relied on out-of-state money for roughly 80% of her 2026 fundraising, a detail that sits uncomfortably alongside her everyman pitch to southwest Washington voters.
She is already rated a toss-up by the Cook Political Report, with state Senate Minority Leader John Braun mounting a serious challenge.
