Out of Touch, Out of Town MI-07 Democrats Struggle to Gain Support in Dem Primary
A new poll in the messy, expensive Democrat primary in Michigan’s 7th congressional district shows that progressive activist William Lawrence is in the lead with over 85% of Democrat primary voters still undecided.
“Non-local Democrats” Bridget Brink and Matt Maasdam just moved into the district in order to run for Congress and continue to struggle to gain support amongst their base.

“Out of touch. Out of town. That’s the story of Democrats running in the messy primary in Michigan’s 7th congressional district. Michigan voters will reject whichever far-left Democrat candidate emerges from the race to the left primary.” – NRCC spokesman Zach Bannon
Background
- Congressman Tom Barrett entered 2026 with more cash on hand than Bridget Brink, Matt Maasdam, and William Lawrence COMBINED.
