Why So Shy? Radio Silence from NY-17 Dems on Trump Assassination Attempt

April 28, 2026

It has been nearly three days since a deranged gunman attempted to assassinate President Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, with Mike Lawler in attendance.

This was a blatant act of political violence that put the President, and everyone in attendance, in harm’s way. Still, Beth Davidson, Cait Conley, and Effie Phillips-Staley have refused to condemn it or even express gratitude to the law enforcement officers who kept everyone safe.

Why are they so shy? Because they’re more interested in catering to their violent, radical base than keeping every single American, including their political opponents, safe.

“It’s been three days since yet another attempt on the President’s life. Everyone at the dinner, including Mike Lawler, was put in harm’s way, and Beth Davidson, Cait Conley, and Effie Phillips-Staley have stayed radio silent. Their silence is complicity with the would-be assassin, and it’s disqualifying.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole
