NRCC Releases Historic Battleground Polling in ME-02
WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the first time this cycle, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) publicly released internal battleground polling in ME-02, offering an early snapshot of a favorable national political landscape for House Republicans and the growing problems confronting vulnerable House Democrats.
The NRCC surveyed likely general election voters in ME-02, which President Trump carried in 2024. The polling shows:
- Paul LePage has a massive 10-point lead against the leading Democrat contenders, Joe Baldacci and Matt Dunlap;
- The political environment favors Republicans, as the GOP leads the generic ballot 48%-41%;
- And the Democrat Party is wildly unpopular with voters, sitting at a -31% net favorability.
“These numbers prove exactly what we’ve been saying all along: Mainers in the Second Congressional District are sick of Democrat rule, and Governor LePage is poised to flip this seat red in November.”– NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole
Background:
- This marks the first time this cycle the NRCC has publicly released internal polling in key House battlegrounds, underscoring the challenging political environment facing vulnerable House Democrats heading into 2026.
- The polling reflects the NRCC’s aggressive early investment in expanding the House map and going on offense in districts that will determine control of Congress. Releasing district-level data at this stage of the cycle, the NRCC is signaling confidence in the battlefield and highlighting the strong position Republicans hold in key battlegrounds nationwide.
