NRCC Releases Historic Battleground Polling in NM-02
WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the first time this cycle, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) publicly released internal battleground polling in NM-02, offering an early snapshot of a favorable national political landscape for House Republicans and the growing problems confronting vulnerable House Democrats.
The NRCC surveyed likely general election voters in NM-02, which President Trump carried in 2024. The polling shows:
- Gabe Vasquez is eight points underwater with New Mexico voters;
- A dead heat between Republicans and Democrats on the generic ballot, and;
- A nearly tied race between Greg Cunningham and incumbent Gabe Vasquez, despite minimal spending by Cunningham.
“Extreme Democrat Gabe Vasquez’s high-tax, anti-police, pro-open border agenda is completely out of line with New Mexicans. This fall, voters will boot Vasquez out of office and elect Marine and former Albuquerque Police Officer Greg Cunningham to fight for them.” – NRCC Spokesman Reilly Richardson
Background:
- This marks the first time this cycle the NRCC has publicly released internal polling in key House battlegrounds, underscoring the challenging political environment facing vulnerable House Democrats heading into 2026.
- The polling reflects the NRCC’s aggressive early investment in expanding the House map and going on offense in districts that will determine control of Congress. Releasing district-level data at this stage of the cycle, the NRCC is signaling confidence in the battlefield and highlighting the strong position Republicans hold in key battlegrounds nationwide.
