Miller-Meeks Pushes Health Care Price Transparency, Democrats Say No

August 5, 2026

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks is fighting to bring price transparency to health care for every Iowa patient. Her Prices on the Wall Act would require hospitals and health care providers to publicly post the prices of medical services, giving patients the information they need before receiving treatment.

According to a 2024 poll by PatientRightsAdvocate.org, 92% of Americans support requiring hospitals and insurers to provide real prices upfront.

Despite that, every single Democrat on the committee failed to show up or support the commonsense legislation. While Rep. Miller-Meeks and House Republicans fight to ensure every American has access to affordable, quality healthcare, Democrats are standing in the way.

“As a physician, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks understands that patients deserve clear, upfront pricing so they can make informed decisions about their care. The Prices on the Wall Act delivers the transparency Americans overwhelmingly support and would help lower health care costs for Iowa families.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Emily Tuttle
