WaPo Ed Board: 59% of Nondisabled Medicaid Adults Didn’t Work
Even the Washington Post is making the case for Republicans’ Medicaid reforms. In a new op-ed, the editorial board reports that 59% of nondisabled adults on Medicaid did not work in 2024 and argues that the program’s design should push able-bodied adults toward the workforce, not subsidize them indefinitely.
That’s exactly what Republicans’ new Medicaid work requirements do. The reforms, passed thanks to President Trump and House Republicans, require able-bodied adults to work, train, or volunteer to keep coverage, and new federal rules are tightening the “medical frailty” exemption that let some enrollees dodge the requirement altogether.

“House Republicans are cutting the fraud and abuse out of Medicaid. Even the Washington Post admits it: 59% of nondisabled adults were taking benefits without working a day. Democrats are in court fighting to keep the scam alive.” – NRCC Spokesman Mike Marinella
