New House Power Rankings: ME-02 on the Brink of Flipping Red
Maine’s 2nd Congressional District is ground zero for House Republicans to grow their majority in Congress. Fox News named Maine’s 2nd District one of the top Democrat-held seats Republicans can flip this November.
Trump has carried ME-02 three times. Jared Golden held it by breaking with his party. Matt Dunlap is doing the opposite.
Dunlap is running as a progressive, and his top priority is a government takeover of healthcare that would end private insurance, including the union and employer-based plans Mainers have come to rely on. He beat the DCCC’s endorsed candidate in the primary, and MoveOn endorsed him. At last night’s debate, he admitted his government-run healthcare plan would take time to implement.
Paul LePage served two terms as governor and has run on his record of cutting taxes and protecting Social Security.
“Maine voters have made it clear: They want nothing to do with incompetent socialist Matt Dunlap. Paul LePage is a proven fighter for Maine, and voters are eager to elect him in November.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole
