Sarah Trone Garriott Puts Politics Over Good Paying Jobs

October 3, 2026

Sarah Trone Garriott just showed Iowans exactly where her priorities lie by voting against the largest steel mill project in American history.

The $15 billion steel mill planned for Lee County is expected to create at least 1,750 permanent, good-paying jobs, bring billions of dollars in investment to Iowa, and expand American steel manufacturing.

Instead of supporting a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Iowa workers and families, Trone Garriott voted against it. Her vote makes her position clear: she won’t cross party lines to create good-paying jobs or deliver for Iowans.

“Sarah Trone Garriott had the chance to cross party lines and support good-paying jobs and manufacturing in Iowa, and she voted no. Iowans deserve a representative who will always put their jobs, paychecks, and families ahead of partisan politics.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Emily Tuttle
